Visitation Ministry

Have you visited someone in Jesus’s name lately? Try it; you might decide it’s what’s been missing in your life.

Who Needs to Be Visited?

Anyone needing encouragement, comfort, or a sense of belonging would profit from a visit. While that could include everyone, there are certain individuals who especially need to be reminded that they aren't forgotten.

· The elderly or disabled who are homebound or living in nursing homes

· Those who are sick for a prolonged period of time

· People who are hospitalized

· Bereaved people

· Prisoners

· People in crisis

Who Should Visit?

How nice it is when the pastor visits. How encouraging if another member also visits during a time of crisis. But to have numerous people visit over the course of time, now there's a caring church!

Some Suggestions for Getting Started.

Take initiative! Don’t wait to be asked and don’t wait for someone to give you permission. Just do it.

Use wisdom and good judgment. Sometimes a pop-in visit is just what was needed, but often it is best to call and schedule in advance.

Go prepared. When possible, visit in a group of two or three. Bring a little something if you can; a little cake, a bulletin, a card from a Sunday school class, etc.

Make a commitment. Mark on your calendar to visit regularly on a certain day of the week or month. Turn visitation into a holy habit.
